There is a moment in late October in the citrus groves outside of Riverside, California when the blood oranges are not yet ready.

You know this. The growers know this. Everyone waits.

Then, almost without warning, they arrive — not the cheerful, uncomplicated orange of a juice carton, but something richer. Deeper. A color that sits somewhere between garnet and flame, with a scent that is equal parts bright and brooding, sweet and just slightly dangerous.

We spent a considerable amount of time thinking about how to put that in a bar of soap.

BLOOD ORANGE soap begins with real orange puree — not an approximation, not a suggestion — worked into a lather that is creamy, generous, and unhurried. Coconut oil. Olive oil. Rice bran. Castor. Soybean. The oils that have quietly been doing the work of keeping skin soft since long before anyone invented a twelve-step routine. Calendula petals, scattered across the top like something a person might do if they actually cared about the details.
